Brackett Park/Shasta site invasive species pull - ANY TIME!
Come Saturday 11-12 AM for group work and direction or show up at your own convenience if you know what you're looking for. For a video showing the location of the garlic mustard click the link below.
GARLIC MUSTARD is in full bloom along the north side of Brackett Field park from 36th Avenue to the baseball fields. This is really easy to pull up, you hardly need gloves and kids can help. What to do with the pulled plants? You can make pesto, bring them home for yard waste pickup or bag them and leave them by the rocket for us to pick up. Get it now before the seeds disperse!
BURDOCK is found in small quantities with the garlic mustard, spread along the "Shasta site" nature trail north of Hiawatha Academy, and it is thick along the west side fence of the soccer field. At this point it looks similar to rhubarb. You'll need a good tool to dig up the taproots. This can be left to compost or brought for yard waste collection. It is edible as well - look online for more information.
