World Wide 'Climate Strike' Aims to Raise Public Awareness of the Urgency of Climate Change Action

Updated: Sep 10, 2019

It's clear that there is a growing awareness among the general public world wide that urgent action is required to address the impacts and issues related to climate change. What started as one girl's, Greta Thunberg's, Friday school strike in her native Sweden has since grown to a global movement. Led by young people, adults are now joining the effort. Coming September 20 and 27, 2019, a number of organizations like 350.org have been promoting and helping to organize climate strike events around the world.

Here in the Twin Cities, there are two local events scheduled for Friday, September 20: one in Minneapolis at the Hennepin County Government Center at 8am, and in St. Paul at Western Sculpture Park at 11:30am. Further information about these events can be found at https://globalclimatestrike.net.
